A year after the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, we are still learning brand new details about the chaotic and deadly final weeks and days.
In today’s edition, we speak with award-winning film producer Jamie Roberts, who premiered a new documentary, Escape From Kabul, on HBO Max this month. It focuses on the final 18 days at Kabul airport with new exclusive footage and conversations with the US Marines who were there, the Afghans trying to flee, as well as Taliban leaders who were on site. Roberts says it is past due that legislators in the US start to ask questions about what went down in August 2021.
We learn for the first time about the tragic details on how the Kabul airport airfield was cleared after the first days of mayhem on the runways. Roberts also tells about his interview with the Taliban commander who manages suicide bombers and explains how they literally hide bombs up their…you know what.
